History

Formed in 1985, the Community Band of Brevard is under the directorship of Mr. Marion Scott. The Band is an independent non-profit organization. Concerts are usually admission free and open to the public with donations accepted to expand the Band's music library and cover operating expenses.   Since 1985 the Community Band of Brevard has served Central Florida, providing high-quality public concerts throughout the year. The band is located in Brevard County on the Space Coast, home of the Kennedy Space Center and Space Shuttle Launch and Landing facility.   The band performs between four and six admission-free concerts each year. Musical selections include classical music, jazz, show tunes, contemporary music, big band arrangements, and original compositions. Concerts often feature guest performers.

Membership and Rehearsals

Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm until 9:15 pm at the Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School band room in in Merritt Island. Membership is open to all individuals with previous or current band experience at or above the high school level. The Band's membership includes band directors, teachers, college and high school students, engineers, retirees, and many others.

Serving Brevard County

Brevard County, Florida, is located on the east coast of Florida, midway between Jacksonville and Miami. Interstate I-95 passes through the long, narrow county, with Orlando and its many attractions to the west, northwest. Also known as the Space Coast, Brevard is home to the Kennedy Space Center and Space Shuttle launch and landing facilities. From any point in Brevard, one can view Space Shuttle and commercial launches.
